One of the first things I did when I moved to South Carolina was start researching interesting locations for future photo sessions. I wanted to find places that felt magical and otherworldly while still not detracting from the subject of each portrait. That’s why when I stumbled upon the Old Sheldon Church Ruins in Beaufort, South Carlina, I fell in love! Ever since, I’ve been dying to photograph a session there and have waited for the right time to do so – after all, it’s a good two hours away from where I live, so I didn’t want to drive out without being sure of the perfect theme and fit!
Much, much later, I was brainstorming ideas for a bridal shoot location with twins Chandler and Hannah. You heard that right – two beautiful twin brides, each engaged to two handsome grooms, and set to share a joint wedding this past weekend. With lots of soft, romantic florals and a delicate pink palette, I knew that their bridal style would be perfect for the Old Sheldon Church Ruins. Imagine my excitement when they agreed to meet me there! Now that their wedding weekend has come and gone, each are officially married women and I can now share their magical bridal session – I hope you enjoy!

Fantastic job all around! Sheldon is a gorgeous place – I’ve never been there and not seen it crawling with a ton of people – you did a fantastic job making it look like they were the only people there! What an amazing cool thing to have these sisters be apart of this. I think it’s awesome that they can share this and their wedding with each other! You really nailed every part of this! There’s another cool church ruins too called Biggins that you may like – it’s not as big, but it’s not nearly as populated and it may be closer to you:)
These are STUNNING, Emily! I love every single image – so perfect!!
Oh my gosh, I absolutely adore these! And that light though!!
Hi I am a bride and am planning on taking bridals at old sheldon church in late april. I am having the hardest time finding out information about permission to doing so. Is there any information you can give me? Do I need to pay any fees or make any special arrangements to take bridal portraits at the ruins? If you could give me any information it would be greatly appreciated, thanks!!
