One of the greatest honors I can receive is having a family or bridal party member from a previous wedding I’ve photographed reach out to me! I first met Bridget and Michael while in Mexico for Lindsi and Luke’s destination wedding in Cancun. I instantly loved Bridget’s bubbly personality and the chemistry she and Michael shared! When she emailed me months later announcing their engagement, I was over-the-moon excited for the two of them! Although I was already booked on the date they’d chosen to get married, I was thrilled that she wanted me to take their engagement photos and enjoyed spending a little more time getting to know them. Bridget and Michael are just so easy going and fun to be around, and I loved documenting their playful personalities at their Arlington Hall engagement session in Dallas!
This beautiful pair were married this past December! Congratulations, Bridget and Michael, and thank you for the joy and honor of getting to share this season with you!
Tell us a little about how you first met! Was it love at first sight?
“Michael and I met in college at Texas Tech in Lubbock. We had a TON of mutual friends, so bumping into him at a tailgate or on Broadway was always the norm. We spent six months just texting, before I asked Michael if he was ever going to ask me out. He finally did and we spent our first date making homemade pizza one winter night. I was a little skeptical as we started dating because I was about to start my internship in Dallas, and then I was going to study abroad right after. Michael knew exactly what he wanted and he wouldn’t take no for an answer. He asked me to be his girlfriend on Valentine’s Day, the day before I was headed to Dallas to intern for an accounting firm. I said yes blindly not knowing what was going to happen. It turned out, dating Michael long distance only made us grow closer and closer in our new relationship! We knew if we could get through that we could get through anything and we did!”
How did Michael propose? Were you shocked? Michael, were you nervous?
“Michael proposed on May 19, 2018 the day he graduated from Texas Tech. His mom organized a well thought out scavenger hunt for all of us to complete around Lubbock. Before the last clue was given, we all went back to get ready for dinner. Michael picked me up from my hotel and we headed to the Will Rogers statue on campus. I was told we were going to take a family picture, then the last clue would be revealed from the scavenger hunt. Just as his Uncle Pat was about to snap the family picture, Michael pulled me from everyone and began saying the sweetest things! Next thing I knew he was down on one knee asking me to be his wife. I was in complete shock and thrilled to be engaged with the man of my dreams.”
( Michael’s side!) “When I pulled Bridget from everyone else, I began speaking and forgot what I planned on saying! The speech I practiced for weeks was on my mind and in my heart but it wasn’t coming out the way I had been rehearsing. I wasn’t nervous until I gazed into in her eyes and saw her glowing smile! When I finally finished rambling, I got on one knee and she made me the happiest man in the world by saying yes!”
How did you choose your wedding venue?
“You’re going to think I’m crazy, but we only looked at one venue and we ended up booking it. As we approached The Springs- Tuscany Hill I got goosebumps because it felt so right and I just knew it was the one. I turned to Michael and whispered… This is it. He agreed and we signed the paperwork that next week. It’s crazy how that all worked out!”
With all of the planning, what has you most excited for your big day?
“I’m most excited about being able to finally be married to my very best friend. I get so excited thinking about all the adventures we are going to have as we embark on this next chapter of our lives. Whether it’s waking up next to each other every morning or traveling the world or just staying in our PJ’s and watching movies on a lazy Saturday… I can’t wait for all of that. We have spent most of our relationship doing long distance, and I can’t wait to just be in the same city!”
What is one funny/cute/endearing thing about one another?
Michael: “When Bridget gets nervous or really excited her shoulders raise really high and I think it’s the cutest thing. She also loves puppies, and whenever one comes our way she stops what she’s doing to pet it or chat about it.”
Bridget: “Michael is 6″6′ and I’m 5’4″, so we have quite a height difference and I love it! When he comes up from behind or gives me a hug I feel so safe, secure, and nothing can go wrong. He also has a smile that could light up a whole room, and when he talks about something he’s excited about, you can really feel his passion just by his tone of voice.”
