How was everyone’s Valentine’s Day this year? If I’m being 100% honest, Dustin and I aren’t huge Valentine’s Day people. I know that it might seem a little strange given that I’m in the wedding industry! I mean, don’t I basically make a living off of feelings and emotions? Well, yes…but I personally don’t think we need a holiday to celebrate our love for one another! Dustin and I will usually do something simple, like get take out and bring it home. Especially since we have two young children, a fancy dinner out just isn’t always feasible!
That all being said, this year we “celebrated” with sushi – my favorite – and let’s be real, I can always get on board with a reason to get sushi! But what I thought was truly special about the month of February was the Daddy Daughter Dance in Plano! The Daddy Daughter Dance is an evening for fathers and their daughters to bond while showering them with affection. I personally love that it helps set Austyn’s expectations for future relationships. I remember going on dates with my Daddy when I was little!
Our gym, Lifetime Fitness in Plano (IE, our second home) hosts an annual Daddy Daughter dance. Registration is open to members and non-members alike. They always do a great job of decorating around a certain theme, and the staff is so welcoming and interactive! This is only our second year attending, but we will for sure make it a yearly tradition.
This year the Daddy Daughter Dance was themed as a masquerade ball. Austyn chose a red dress with silver detailing, so a silver mask and silver high heels (the shoes were all she really cared about, hahaha!) were in order. She got her hair and nails done at a local boutique for girls and looked absolutely precious! Of course, I had to get a few photos of Dustin and Austyn before they headed out with our friend Pedro and his little girl Allie!
Dustin says that they had a blast together! There was food, coloring, limo rides…and oh yes, dancing! A little bit of that, too! I may be biased, but I think that Austyn and Dustin probably stole the show! Enjoy my favorites from their mini photo session!
