romantic engagement photos at the gaylord texan
UPDATE: Scott and Leah are MARRIED! After you view their engagement photos, make sure to swing by and see the gorgeous images from their wedding at Piazza on the Green!
Engagement season is definitely here, and my schedule is filling up with so many gorgeous engagement sessions! There is truly nothing like having the opportunity to connect one-on-one with a couple, spending time laughing and capturing beautiful Dallas engagement photos. Every couple brings their own unique personality and energy to each location, which makes each engagement session special in its own way. That is one of the many reasons why I am so excited to share Scott and Leah’s classy and elegant engagement photos at the Gaylord Texan!
Leah and Scott met two-stepping at Cowboys Red River – she was hanging with her girlfriends and he with his buddies. Leah says that she noticed Scott as soon as she walked in and immediately mentioned to her friends how cute she thought he was. When Scott walked over to the girls and asked if anyone wanted to dance, they all nudged Leah toward him. After a night of dancing and talking, it was pretty clear that they had strong chemistry. Scott asked for Leah’s number, and so began their story!
I loved hearing about how Scott proposed to Leah – and the best part was that Leah had photos to show me when we met for coffee! It’s definitely as beautiful as it sounds! Scott popped the big question while they were on a vacation in California. He knew that one of her favorite moments with him was during a Valentine’s Day date where they went horseback riding, so he sought to recreate it at sunset in the beautiful California mountains. “It was breathtaking – one way you can see the mountains and the valley, the other way you can see the ocean,” Leah elaborated. “The trail guide told us to get off our horses and he would take some sunset photos and that’s when Scott got down on one knee! It was absolutely perfect and so romantic.”
Knowing that we were going to be shooting at the Gaylord Texan, Leah and Scott wanted a classy look for their engagement photos and did a wonderful job of assembling their outfits. Scott wore a timeless black suit with a blue shirt and tie and then went for a more relaxed look with a pullover sweater, jeans, and boots. Leah wore a gorgeous blue and gold lace Eliza J dress and then a plum top and jeans for her casual look. We decided on photographing their engagement photos at the Gaylord Texan ultimately because of the threat of rain, but I think we can all agree that the setting was just perfect for them! (As a side note, I just need to profess my love for photographing RED HAIR!! Leah, you are just beautiful!)
I am so excited that I get the honor of being Leah and Scott’s Dallas wedding photographer and cannot wait for their wedding at Piazza on the Green in McKinney, Texas. In the meantime, enjoy learning more about this beautiful couple while looking at their gorgeous Gaylord Texan engagement photos!
Tell us one interesting/unique/funny thing about one another…
Scott: Leah’s hand-eye coordination is a little lacking. Not knowing this, our first date was dinner and Top Golf. Smooth move. She was a good sport though (and adorable), and has since become a killer top golfer!
Leah: Scott puts sauce on EVERYTHING. BBQ sauce, hot sauce, ketchup, cane’s sauce, queso, salsa, you name it, it’s smothered in it. Also he has the biggest soft spot for his dog Kinsley, it’s precious.
Tell us about the details you’re most excited for with your upcoming wedding…
Scott: I am most excited about having all my friends and family together and the dancing.
Leah: I’m most excited for the dancing and to wear my dress. And of course to have everyone there celebrating with us.
Do you have any advice for couples who are preparing for their engagement session?
Scott: Don’t stress the details. Wear what you will be happy and comfortable with each other in. Emily will make it easy!
Leah: I had my hair and makeup professionally done and I would highly recommend going that route. It showed up so much better on camera than anything I’m capable of and enhanced my outfit too. Also, just relax and be yourselves, and think of ways to make each other laugh!
