We wedding photographers absolutely love taking pictures of all of the gorgeous details that go into the beauty of a wedding day. It’s the culmination of a couple’s planning and dreaming, and the hard work of so many vendors! Personally, my favorite is photographing the wedding cake which can carry so much of the couple’s personality and style. Whether it’s a cake full of fun and whimsy, or an over-the-top cake overflowing with lush florals, this baked wedding tradition is one that just about always gets me excited – which is why I’m featuring some of my favorite wedding cake ideas today (in no particular order)!
1. Bright and Colorful Cupcake Tower and Wedding Cake
This summer wedding at Senate’s End in Columbia, South Carolina had splashes of vibrant colors all over, so the florals were a perfect touch to the cupcake tower paired with a simple but fitting buttercream frosted cake up top. Who doesn’t love cupcakes?!

2. Romantic and Artistic Copper and Wine Wedding Cake with Watercolor Accents
Shhh – this styled shoot is still yet to be shared in full, but I could not help including this cake! This was such a unique cake to photograph, especially for a couple who may prefer a moodier look. The berry colored watercolor presented a modern touch while the copper foiling and wax seal brought in a vintage appeal. Loved this on so many levels!

3. Preppy Pink, Blue, and Peach Latticework Wedding Cake
Although I love being a Dallas wedding photographer, I seriously miss shooting weddings in South Carolina! To me, this cake feels so southern and preppy, and brings back tons of memories of the many weddings I shot in the Carolinas! I loved the soft pinks, peaches, and blues for a fresh feel.

4. Elegant Peacock Themed Wedding Cake with Lilies
One of my favorite weddings ever (and favorite COUPLES ever!) featured a wintry theme with accents of peacock feathers. This amazing cake wove together that same vision in its entirety and was a gorgeous addition to the reception! I love the delicately molded lilies and feathers!

5. Whimsical White and Pink Floral Wedding Cake with Cupcakes and Baked Treats
This couple put so much personality into their wedding! Everywhere you looked, you got little glimpses into their fun-loving style. Of course, their cake table was no different! I loved the white and pink floral cake (and that adorable cake topper, “To Infinity”!) along with delicious cupcakes and treats.
6. Flirty Pink and White Bridal Cake with Woodsy Accents
A gorgeous wedding at the River Road and Jasmine House in Columbia, South Carolina gave a garden feel to this beautiful wedding day. The cake reflected that same motif with wood slices and greenery, but also kept a flirty and feminine touch with bright pink florals.

7. Suspended Wedding Cake with Lush Flowing Florals
This cake was definitely a sight to see! I had the honor of second shooting for Celina Gomez, who graciously allowed me to use one of these photos I captured for her in this blog post. Our jaws were on the floor in awe of this stunning wedding cake! Baked by a treasured family member, the couple made sure to proudly display this cake by suspending it from clear truss and decorating it with candles and lush florals. This was definitely one of my favorites of the entire year!
I hope you loved looking through these photos of amazing wedding cake ideas as much as I do! Cakes are a great way to display your personality as a couple…and let’s be real – everyone LOVES a good slice of wedding cake!

The copper and wine one is my favorite! If I re-did my wedding I think I would choose those colors. So classy :)
