Last year I had the absolute privilege to travel from Dallas to Miami to photograph Jenny and Taylor’s gorgeous garden wedding at at Flora’s Garden Venue! This wedding was so special to me, as Jenny and I actually met at our former church in North Carolina. She and I got to lead worship together one weekend and connected easily, so we’ve stayed in touch through social media ever since. When Taylor popped the question, I was simply ecstatic for the two – and even more thrilled when she reached out to ask if I would capture her big day! Jenny expressed that she’d been following my work for some time, and always knew that when the day came, she wanted me there to photograph her wedding. I was honored and flattered! No pressure there at all, right?!
Jenny and Taylor are both musicians who met at a bar between gigs. (Side note – Jenny has amazing pipes; I know first hand!) Their chemistry was instant, and they went on their first date that very night! The following day brought another date, as did the next…and so the streak continued! Jenny and Taylor soon realized that this was no ordinary dating relationship. The pair realized that they never wanted to spend another day without one another, which ushers in the next step! Taylor proposed in Barcelona (amazing!) after a tough hike, finding the most intimate spot possible to enjoy the scenery and to ask the love of his life to be his wife!
All of my couples are incredible, but I do have to say that Jenny and Taylor’s wedding was one that will always have a special place in my heart. Miami was a new city for me, but I immediately felt welcomed by all of their family and friends. It was clear from the very beginning that this was an eagerly anticipated day by all. There was literally so much joy shared by everyone. Some of my favorite moments include watching the excitement on Taylor’s parents’ faces as they excitedly welcomed a new daughter-in-law into their family; seeing Jenny’s sweet interaction with her Mother and Father; and their first dance which was set to “You’ve Got A Friend In Me” from Toy Story! The Disney-obsessed girl inside me was bubbling with happiness! And of course, I can’t forget Jenny’s dance with her father (who is a mountain of a man with a huge presence, but such a softie! My dad is too!)…would you believe Jenny actually wrote, sang, and recorded a special song JUST for him? The father-daughter dances at weddings always get me, but this was a whole different level! Jenny, you are an incredible talent, daughter, and now WIFE!
I could have written this post about the perfect weather we had in Miami – the weather in Dallas was HORRENDOUS, so it was perfect timing for me! I could have also written it about the stunning garden florals, or Jenny’s beautiful boho-yet-classic style. But instead I’ll close it with a focus on the amount of heavenly delight that was ever present on this perfect day. When two families come together to happily witness the joining of two beautiful souls, heaven surely rejoices! Thank you both so much for allowing me to play a part in your wedding day, Jenny and Taylor!
