Wedding season has been wonderful this year, as I’ve been able to work with some of the sweetest brides and grooms! One such couple is Adrienne and Joel, whose Lake House at Lake Carolina wedding I am now able to share!

These two are not only as down-to-earth and authentic as anyone you’ll ever meet – they are also extremely intelligent and accomplished. Joel actually graduated with his PhD in accounting the day before their wedding! Adrienne and Joel are also incredible runners, and seem to be demolishing PR’s on a daily basis! Although they have major bragging rights, you”d never know it – they are humble, level-headed, and truly care about others. It is easy to see why they are so well adored.

When Adrienne reached out to me, she emphasized how important it was to her for the wedding day to focus on her and Joel’s marriage, not all of the extras that can often cause unwanted stress. Adrienne and Joel so genuinely wanted their friends and family to be comfortable, and to have a wonderful experience alongside them. That’s why they opted for a wedding at the Lake House at Lake Carolina, which just so happens to be just over a mile away from my home! It had been a year almost to the day since I’d photographed at this venue, so I was thrilled to visit again. A true hidden gem, the beautiful lake setting and sandy beach perfectly suited Adrienne and Joel’s laid-back personalities. Everyone felt right at home celebrating the newlywed couple and relaxing among nature. It also made for a gorgeous backdrop for their portraits together. (Funny side note – at one point while I was taking their portraits alone, Adrienne not-so-apologetically laughed, ‘People tell us we kiss too much,” which I thought was the cutest thing, but it made it way easy for me to just capture their connection as husband and wife!)

The Lake House at Lake Carolina doesn’t need a ton of decorating due to the sand, water, and woods that surround it, so Adrienne intentionally kept it simple. Her choice of rich purple and cool pink florals and accents complemented the setting just beautifully. I love that Adrienne and Joel stayed entirely true to themselves by keeping the true meaning of marriage at the front and center of the day.

It has been such a joy getting to know Adrienne and Joel over the past year. Truly, the most fulfilling aspect of my job is when I feel like I’ve become fast friends with the bride and groom by the end of the wedding day. This was without a doubt one such instance, and I feel so honored to have been a part of their joining together in marriage at their Lake House at Lake Carolina wedding.
