It’s been forever since I’ve shared a personal post – and what better time to do so than this month’s celebration of Lincoln’s first – YES, FIRST – birthday?! Our little Buddy Bear turned one on February 6th, and he definitely had his share of birthday fun! We celebrated day-of with photos and a cupcake at our place. Nice, quiet (mostly), and sweet! Then just a couple of weeks later we drove to Rowlett to meet both sets of parents and my sister for more celebrating and PRESENTS! This included a cake for the grown-ups (and my “big kid” Austyn) as well as a coordinating smash cake for Lincoln purchased from Market Street Bakery. I have to say – I was very impressed with the taste, appearance, and value of a grocery store bought cake…so if you’re looking for a delicious cake for any occasion, I highly recommend placing an order through them!
They say siblings are so similar and different all at the same time, and I definitely noticed it as I thought back to Austyn’s first birthday! Austyn was quite the entertainer when she turned one and was so excited to dive into her smash cake. Lincoln, on the other hand, wasn’t quite as impressed! Although he seemed to enjoy tasting his first bit of icing and cake, he got over it pretty fast and was ready to be done. He especially wasn’t a fan of the smoke from the blown-out birthday candle! I can’t blame him too much – he’d already had a super long day and hadn’t napped, so birthday celebrating was not exactly on the top of his list!
At one year old, Lincoln is growing and changing in so many fun ways. He’s standing on his own at length, but 100% walking yet other than cruising. I can tell he is SO close, though – he tries so hard and then seems to psych himself out every time! He has six teeth (two of them are just peeking out) and the CHEEEEEKIEST LITTLE GRIN EVER! Lincoln is also babbling constantly and says “Dada” and “Mama” depending on how he’s feeling! He loves waving and thinks his big sister is hysterical. One of his favorite things to do is just yuck it up with her! Lincoln naps about twice a day and ends up in our bed most nights, although he surprises us every now and then with a full night’s sleep! He’s still nursing about 5-6 times a day but is taking more and more solids. As a matter of fact, I’ve recently discovered that he gets SUUUUPER HANGRY if he doesn’t get fed fast enough! His favorite foods are yogurt, chicken, and banana.
We love our Buddy Bear and love watching him grow. This year has been amazing as a family of four. He is the perfect addition to our little family, and we are so, so proud of him. As we celebrate his first year, I think back and realize that I cannot imagine my life any differently. Happy Birthday, Lincoln – you are so loved by so many!
