PERSONAL | Austyn Blakeley, 20-month old wonder girl

April 9, 2014

Disclaimer: if you aren’t a parent, or if you don’t personally know me/Austyn, this post might bore you… but that’s okay! You can scroll through just to see cute photos of a gorgeous little girl! ;)

Austyn turned 20 months old on April 2nd, and it occurred to me that I haven’t taken the time to sit down and put together any type of update about her! As a matter of fact, her baby book currently ends at 15 months! And cuuue the mom guilt – but trust me, a lot has happened in the past few months!

  • Started consistently walking at 15 months – late, but that’s when she was ready!
  • Parrots our words and phrases – not that we really curse, but we have to watch what we say now ;)
  • Favorite words and phrases – talks constantly, but loves to say mommy, daddy, baby, puppy, water, “bye see ya”
  • Can count to 10!!
  • Can say ABC’s all the way to P!
  • Loves Elmo, and could watch him all day
  • Favorite movie BY FAR is “Frozen”…
  • …and she LOOOVES to sing “Let It Go!”

  • Loves to tickle/be tickled, chase/be chased – she’ll go “I GET YOU!”
  • Another favorite game is when Mommy asks for a toy or object…then she has to go find it
  • Starting to become a picky eater!! Not good!! Will eat FRUUUUIT, chicken, carrots, puffs, cheerios, hot dogs (we only buy certain kinds), breads, and of course anything sweet!
  • OBSESSED WITH WATER!!

  • HATES wearing shoes, and will remove them promptly
  • Never met a stranger…likes to hug random other children her size, as well as doggies
  • So so so affectionate! Loves to give Mommy and Daddy hugs and kisses
  • Phrases much of what she says with the inflection of a question

Austyn may be hitting all of her developmental milestones with flying colors, but her most poignant trait is her desire to make people smile and laugh, and her compassion for others. Austyn will go out of her way for laughs! She lights up when she does something particularly silly that makes another respond favorably, and will join in with laughter when others are as well. She also loves to give affection, and seems to notice if I’m stressed out about something. Maybe I’m reading into it, but I like to believe that she inherited my big sappy heart. :)

The most incredible thing is that by God’s grace, I’ve been able to pursue a passion of mine while spending more time with Austyn at home. Just a little over a year ago, I would have never thought this possible! Day after day I am amazed that I get to wake up with excitement to work with the people that I do and also witness the changes that happen in Austyn developmentally and physically. It’s definitely not easy, but I really do feel like I’m living a dream on a daily basis!

    xoxo, Emily

      Hi Emily,

I have tried unsuccessfully to subscribe to your blog because I always love reading what you write. It just does not work. Is there a way you can subscribe me so I can get your entries? I hope so.

      Thanks! Love you bunches.
