One of the greatest things about moving back to the Dallas-Fort Worth area has been the amazing wedding photographers I’ve been privileged to photograph alongside! I have loved second shooting for some extremely talented individuals, and not only is it an honor, but I also am able to learn new things from each and every one of them.

A few months ago, I was asked to second shoot at a wedding at Big Sky Event Hall in Royce City, which is right outside of Rockwall, Texas and 25 miles east of Dallas, Texas. I’d never been out that direction before, so it was a new venture to me in many ways! It was also a first to photograph alongside John of John Christopher Photographs, who is truly a creative, but also a class act. In this case, I was asked to focus on the groom, groomsmen, and any pertaining details. As I put together this blog post,l I realized that it definitely puts a new and interesting perspective on the wedding day, because weddings are usually very focused on the bride!

I absolutely loved exploring this new venue which got its name from the legendary big skies of Texas. Big Sky Event Hall truly puts the skies on display out in Royce City by maintaining its country simplicity in every regard. Some of my favorite details were the gorgeous, grass-capped rolling hills, a large rustic windmill, and a watery pond backdrop in front of which the couple said their vows. Guests loved the ability to escape for a night and celebrate this wonderful union of souls as they said “I DO.” Thanks again to John Christopher Photographs for allowing me the opportunity to second shoot and experience a beautiful new wedding venue in Dallas, Texas!
