There is just something absolutely magical about October weddings! As a Dallas wedding photographer, I’ve captured weddings during every season, and they are truly all beautiful…but October will always be my favorite. Here in Texas, the temperatures have started coming down a bit and the days are still on the longer side. And best of all, the sunsets are stunning, making it perfect for golden hour portraits. Combine all of this beauty with a wonderful couple like Kristan and Justin, and you have yourself a recipe for a perfect day!

Kristan and Justin were married at the Flying V Ranch in Decatur, Texas. This rustic wedding venue outside of Dallas was the perfect choice for their romantic, vintage inspired celebration. I loved their choice of burgundy, purple, and soft pink florals to adorn their day. Both the ceremony and reception space at their Flying V Ranch wedding felt intimate and special. We could not have asked for better weather, as everything was absolutely gorgeous and went so smoothly!

Their wedding day was filled with joy! I especially loved the more emotional and unplanned moments that happened. Watching Kristan’s mother help dress her definitely made me pause and think about the day when I will be doing the same thing with Austyn! And during the ceremony, Kristan’s dad did the sweetest thing. After having walked his girl down the aisle, he took her hand and then Justin’s, placed them so that they were holding hands, and smiled at Justin as if to say, “This is my baby girl, and I give you my blessing and trust to lead her as her husband.” That moment will always remain in my mind!

Both families and all of their friends were clearly so delighted for Kristan and Justin’s marriage. And who wouldn’t be? They make a beautiful couple, seeking to serve one another over themselves while chasing after the Lord. I was beyond delighted to capture their love story!
