I have been looking forward to this day ever since I first photographed Shannon and Curtis’s White Rock Lake and Griggs Park Engagement Session! I connected instantly with this couple and just fell in love with their laid back and generous personalities. Their engagement session was truly just a glimpse of what was to come on their big day at La Cour Wedding Venue in McKinney – and what an amazing day it turned out to be!
Almost every wedding I photograph comes with something completely unexpected. This one just so happened to be near freezing temperatures! Who would have thought that an April weekend would usher in a crisp 40 degree ceremony and reception? Certainly not us Texans! However, I was floored by the way Shannon and Curtis handled it! Not only that, but their friends and family came ready to get these two married and CELEBRATE! This wedding was so eagerly anticipated by all such that it made the weather no big thing!
Shannon and Curtis shared a beautiful first look that gave us extra time for portraits within their timeline. Soon, guest began arriving and filled the benches lining La Cour’s courtyard space. People were snuggling up for body heat in blankets and coats to keep warm. The altar was adorned by classic florals as an elegant backdrop for Shannon and Curtis. Both the bride and groom looked incredible – Shannon wore a fashion forward Justin Alexander gown with POCKETS (and sported two hairstyles – soft waves for the ceremony and a fun, modern ponytail for the reception!). Curtis wore a custom tailored suit designed and created by his friend, the talented Austen Dor. Bespoke suits ALWAYS stand out! Together, the bride and groom were truly one of the sharpest couples I have ever seen!
After Shannon and Curtis were pronounced husband and wife, family and friends gathered beneath the cafe lights to dance the night away. And everyone did just that, despite the chilly temperatures! Jack Frost had nothing on the genuine joy shared by all who kept the dance floor going for hours! My favorite moment of the day was at the end of the night as I hugged Shannon, wishing her congratulations. She told me that she wasn’t ready for the night to be over, despite having tried with every ounce of her being to slow down and enjoy the day. She went on to say that she had done her best to truly live within and savor each moment. Fortunately, that’s where I like to say I am able to step in. It makes me so happy to know that I will be able to share a gallery full of Shannon and Curtis’s memories, preserved for a lifetime and more. What an honor to have crossed paths with these two amazing human beings!
Shannon and Curtis, here’s to you! I wish you nothing but my heartfelt best and am so thankful to have been a part of your story!
