Last fall, we had what was probably the rainiest season we have seen in YEARS. Fall is usually the busiest season for the wedding industry, and my schedule was no exception – I believe I had at least seven weddings last October, so needless to say it was a bit crazy! What was even crazier was watching the forecast for almost every single weekend say “RAIN” or “THUNDERSTORMS”…and having to plan and pivot accordingly. Although I would NEVER wish rain on any couple’s wedding day, I always like to remind my brides and grooms that with some flexibility, it’s still possible to get the portraits you want…and besides, you’re married at the end of the day and that’s aaaaall that matters!

THAT ALL BEING SAID…when Jackie and Eric’s wedding day rolled around, we had just come out of a stretch of three or four weekends of RAIN RAIN RAIN. So when I woke up that morning to the bluest skies I could imagine, sun peeking through lacy clouds, and mild temperatures…it was like I was still dreaming. I was sure that driving from Allen to Leonard would bring some sort of stormy front, but NO – I drove up to The Grand Ivory and gazed at the venue standing gracefully amidst perfectly idyllic weather. I already knew Jackie and Eric’s soft romantic Grand Ivory wedding was going to be a good one…but you can’t blame me for being THRILLED for sunny skies!

Jackie and Eric’s Grand Ivory wedding was one of the smoothest days I’ve had the honor of photographing. It starts with an incredible couple whose White Rock Lake engagement session I captured earlier this year…but I also have to give a shoutout to the talented professionals (see details below!) who made this day perfect in every way. When vendors show up and do their job with commitment and excellence, it lets the couple enjoy each moment and drink deeply of the present joy!

One of my favorite moments from Jackie and Eric’s Grand Ivory wedding was their first look – the excitement on Eric’s face seeing his absolutely stunning bride was the sweetest! Let it never be said that a first look takes away from the emotion of the bride coming down the aisle – Jackie’s expression during the ceremony was one of pure elation at knowing he she could soon call Eric her husband!
