I first met Shelby and her husband-to-be last summer at Starbucks. When we sat down to discuss her wedding day, she made it very clear that an engagement session wasn’t super important to her (I wasn’t including them at the time); however, a bridal session most definitely was! In case you’re not familiar with the south, it’s kind of crucial to have a bridal portrait displayed prominently at your wedding – and Shelby kept that southern streak throughout even when choosing the location for her bridal shoot: Charleston, SC!
The funny thing is that I’d actually never been to Charleston before, although so many people have told me that I would love it. They certainly were right! I drove up one day to meet Shelby, her mom, and her matron of honor Amy with the intentions of capturing some gorgeous images. We stayed near the College of Charleston, where Shelby went to school. There was cobblestone and history galore – just perfect for the setting. Charleston definitely delivers in terms of southern class!
In the midst of snapping away, I love that Shelby’s friend Amy was willing to totally put herself out there in order to help Shelby smile and relax. I don’t know if people realize how nerve wracking even just a bridal session can be – it’s kind of a dress rehearsal for the big day! In addition to adjusting Shelby’s dress, veil, hair, and flowers, Amy kept dancing around to lighten the mood! I love the bond these two have!
Shelby is an incredibly gorgeous bride, and since we can now officially call her a wife (her wedding took place this past Saturday at the Lake House at Lake Carolina), I can now share this beautiful set! Absolutely STUNNING!!
