Angela had warned me early on that week about the potential for bad weather. We discussed the fact on the phone as we talked through the timeline, and agreed to keep an eye on the forecast. What struck me was her calm, collected, and decisive nature. Although there were options to move the reception, “There is no backup plan for the ceremony,” she informed me. “It’s very important to me that I get married on the beach.” So, the beach she wanted…and the beach she got.

As Dustin and I pulled in and began taking detail shots at the open air reception space, it became increasingly windy. And dark. And quite frankly, pretty spooky looking. I was honestly a little concerned about my flash stand getting wet or blown over and potentially ruined – however, Angela remained calm throughout it all. She showed very little, if any, true concern about the high potential for rain. All she seemed to focus on was the fact that she was preparing to marry her best friend – end of story.

Fortunately, this story actually has a wonderful ending. Although clouds loomed in the sky, Angela, and her groom William, exchanged vows on the beach without a single drop of rain. They then celebrated alongside family, friends, and loved ones without any further threat of bad weather. Everything came together just beautifully, and I couldn’t have been happier for this couple – I was so ecstatic to photograph their wedding in Hilton Head Island, SC at the Palmetto Dunes Resort!
