ENGAGED | JonTelle + Leroi in Columbia, South Carolina – Engagement Session

September 29, 2014

I am so happy to finally debut JonTelle and Leroi on my blog today! Why “finally,” you ask? Well, in case you haven’t heard, the weather in Columbia, South Carolina is sometimes a force to be reckoned with. As any smart photographer will do, I always try to check the weather several times throughout the week leading up to a session just in case a reschedule is needed due to rain. However, there have been so many times that I’ve ended up suggesting a reschedule, and it ended up not raining…or vice versa. Long story short, you never quite know what to expect, and so often have to play it by ear here in Columbia!

That’s why I totally didn’t blame JonTelle and Leroi when they opted to push forward with their original engagement session date and time. We met at an agreed upon location and were so excited to photograph together… however, the drizzling rain was just too much for us to deal with, and I could tell that I wasn’t going to be able to capture the type of images JonTelle expressed she wanted. So, about 20 minutes in, I gently suggested that we choose a different date and time – and I’m so glad we did! The photos you see below are a result of that decision to try a reshoot…and I love, love, LOVE the outcome!

JonTelle and Leroi met online and moved to be with one another once they could tell that their relationship was going somewhere. They have two adorable twin boys about the same age as Austyn, so we hit it off right away talking about children… and how lovely + stressful they can make life all at the same time. ;) I can’t wait to meet them at their wedding – up to now, I’ve only seen photos of these precious little ones!

While shooting their engagement session, it was so obvious that LeRoi treats JonTelle like a queen! He never failed to help her up or down from a position if she needed it, and always opened the door for her while we drove from location to location within the Clemson Research Extension. I just love it when couples allow me to catch a little glimpse into their lives; with JonTelle and Leroi, I was getting to see how much they love just getting to be with one another. Laughing, cuddling…experiencing life alongside their best friend. That’s what made this session so beautiful – their authenticity and love for one another. I’m so excited to photograph their wedding at Senate’s End next April!
